How ICTs are used in medicine
Monitoring patients: Sometimes the health of a patient may get worse suddenly, this can happen more likely to happen for example after and emergency admission, after surgery or after leaving critical care. This monitors has sensors that are attached to the patient which measured blood pressure, pulse rate, heart rate, breathing and brain activity.
Organ transplants:Database are used to help match a patient that is waiting for a transplant such a a over, kidney, hearts with someone that is suitable.
Body scanners: This sends electromagnetic rays through the body of a patient, then it uses this information to build up and image of the body. This also helps doctors find and treat conditions like tumors.
Patient records: This database is used to store information about patients, and also help transfer a patient from hospital to hospital. Records the history of the patient such as the appointments.
Computer science in medical research: Helps decode species’ genetic codes, this helps scientists study the reaction of some DNA to virus or bacteria, and identify the sources of infection.
Surgical precision: The waiting list for surgeries can be large and unpleasant but with robots in this area the surgeon is always in control of what the robot makes but it make smaller incisions, greater flexibility, and a greater reach to operate the problem area.
Connect doctors internationally: If a doctor in unable to conduct a surgery a robot can be controlled from another place by a surgeon that is able to perform it. For example a heart surgery and a computer from another place is sending instructions to a robot so it can perform the surgery.
Robotic assistance for a better life: With a remote controlled robot, caretakers can interact with their patients, check on their living conditions, and doctor appointments. This would help efficiency by eliminating the time of home visits. This ICT will greatly improve he lives of the caretakers and patients.
Personal thought: I learned that ICTs are used everywhere in our daily lives now a day. Even in medicine where people thought that everything needed to be controlled by humans because it was such a delicate subject because should where treating with a human life. ICTs are been used maybe in some ways such as in the boys scanners robots don’t do all the job but instead help doctor treat patients in a better way and the monitoring of patients helps them keep the patients alive and healthy, having control of their vitals and how they are developing. In conclusion I learned that ICTs are used everywhere in the world and make our lives easier and improve our quality of life.
